Witnesses reported that the manager had difficulty walking in Seulgi's shoes, and the Red Velvet member came under fire, with netizens accusing her of forcing the manager to wear her shoes in order to have more comfortable shoes of her own to wear.
On July 13, Seulgi then explained the situation and apologized in a story on Instagram, writing:
"First of all, I would like to apologize to the manager and many other people for the incident at the airport yesterday. Recently, during a rehearsal, I injured my foot and, despite the fact that my shoes at the airport were high heels, I thought everything would be fine and didn't bring any sneakers with me, which was my own negligence.
As I walked, my foot started to hurt even more and by the time we arrived, I was struggling to walk. Seeing this, the manager judged that it might be too difficult for me and suggested that we exchange shoes before leaving the airport.

In the situation where my foot was hurting, I couldn't think of any other solution and made a bad momentary decision. I apologize to those who were disappointed and to the manager who was hurt by this incident.
I have personally apologized to the manager and will be more careful and considerate to avoid such things happening again."
