JYP Entertainment finds itself in an awkward situation.
On May 30th, JYP Entertainment released a statement admitting that the sound malfunction during NMIXX's performance at Shinhan University was planned in advance.
Last weekend, NMIXX performed at the university festival. During their performance of "DICE," the music stopped near the end, leaving the members to perform without any music, which greatly impressed the audience and online viewers.
However, some students started talking about it being a planned event, and a member of the university festival committee revealed the next day that the sound cut during NMIXX's performance was pre-planned. It wasn’t a malfunction but a staged event. Many people were disappointed by this revelation, which JYP Entertainment had kept hidden until now.
n light of these revelations, JYP Entertainment admitted that everything was planned before the performance, but the members of NMIXX were not informed, likely causing them a lot of stress and anxiety.
The team from JYP handling NMIXX stated:
"Hello, this is SQU4D.
The equipment malfunction on stage during NMIXX's performance at the Shinhan University festival was a pre-planned event meant to enhance the atmosphere, and this information was shared in advance with the event organizers, with an edited sound recording being used.
However, to make the event appear natural, the members of NMIXX themselves were not informed about it.
We apologize for not considering that such an event could cause confusion and discomfort among the audience and fans, and we promise to be more careful to prevent a similar event from happening again.
Once again, we apologize to the audience who cheered for NMIXX during the festival, as well as to the fans.
Thank you."
