On January 27, the LE SSERAFIM group appeared on the Taiwanese entertainment show Superstar Red & White.

During the show, LE SSERAFIM was seen eating sweet potatoes using bamboo skewers, to which the host, Huang Weijin, made an inappropriate comment: "I want to put it on them too... on the sweet potato balls." (In Taiwanese, the comment had sexual implications, angering fans.)
Despite his Co-star Lu Zi Yin expressed disbelief, saying: "It seems like you made a verbal mistake." Huang Yujin responded, "I just wanted to eat with them, no other intentions."
After the episode aired, fans criticized Huang Weijin harshly. In response, he posted on January 28 via his personal account: "I want to address what happened on stage because Yun-jin said she would stick the sweet potato ball onto the bamboo skewer."
He continued: "My comment was misunderstood. What I meant was it's fun to eat with idols I love. There was no other (sexual) meaning as some claim. But if viewers feel uncomfortable, I apologize. It's my mistake, and I respect criticism and guidance."
Following Huang Weijin's apology, Taiwanese celebrities rallied behind him, with Lu Zi Yin openly supporting him, saying: "Huang Weijin has done his best in every moment, and I can feel his sincerity and effort."
This further enraged fans, particularly noting the insensitivity in making sexual comments even when there's a minor in LE SSERAFIM. Commenting inappropriately in front of Hong Eunchae, who is only 18, is unacceptable.
Moreover, the controversy escalated because Huang Weijin's apology lacked genuine reflection and did not include an apology to the LE SSERAFIM members. Instead, phrases like "instinctive response" and "misunderstanding" were used, fueling the further debate.
